What Are The Stray Kitties?
In the beginning, JJ’s’ stray kitties gently bumped themselves along the thighs of passers-by. Posted in various high traffic areas, the cats shared secrets, purred agreement, and asked the real tough questions in the form of vinyl stickers, each individually drawn.
As time went by, the stray kitties evolved into some sort of alter ego. Highly hermetic, JJ would rarely communicate with strangers at the depths she craved. Small talk and cell phones were always getting in the way. In time, via street art, JJ could interact with complete strangers with virtually zero fear, zero hindrance. Soon blossoming into more than just stickers, the stray kitties have manifested a voice which steps into many circles where JJ could not appear so frankly honest, nor honestly blatant.
Who Is JJ Steeves?
JJ Steeves is a young Canadian artist currently residing in Halifax, Nova Scotia. More often than not, one may find JJ making friends with stray cats on quiet city sidewalks. Her desire to hermit professionally in order to create more meaningful, focused art verges on rampant desperation, and while she works toward such a time, JJ subconsciously and begrudgingly creates pieces which stem from her day jobs.
